Who: DG & Everyone
Where: Infirmary
When: January 21st, 8 PM.
What: DG is awake.

All she was really aware of was the pain of a throbbing headache. Really bad headache. Worse then the time her and her friends had gone to every single bar in the state to get DG her free birthday drink, really it was. Blue eyes blinked open slowly and met the white ( Read more... )

Someone had gotten Cain immediately. He'd been in the shower and preparing to return to the infirmary, where he had been commandeering the bed beside DG's for the past nights.

He didn't even wonder at her always perfect sense of timing, to wake up without him there. He just pulled on his sleeping pants and ran through the hall, barefoot, hair still wet.

He rounded the doorway and saw DG's eyes open. She was talking to her mother.

The awkwardness didn't even register, really. He smiled for the first time since before the ball.

It was all he could do not to sweep her into a hug and kiss her senseless.

But that was NOT what she needed. Neither was feeling crowded.

"Hey there, princess." He barely kept from crying from the overwhelming sense of relief... and shame.

He gently took her uninjured hand and pressed a kiss to her fingertips.

Her and her mother had been making random chatter when a figure entered the door that she was sure to recognize even if she was blind. "Hey Tin Man." Lavender stood and offered a wink to her daughter, and with a promise to return in a while with her father, left.

"How've you been?" Perhaps not the foremost on his mind but it was on hers, she knew - just by knowing what kind of man he was - that he was kicking himself in the ass for all of this and blaming himself entirely.

"I read you four really lame novels from AZ. Four. I wanted to tear my eyes out. They all ended the same. How do women read them?" He tried to sound non-nonchalant.

"Oh, you know, paperwork, nearly coming to blows with your father, sleeping in that bed there... the usual type things."

How has he been? Like it mattered? "But I'm doing a hell of a lot better seeing your eyes open. We were gonna move you to your room tomorrow."

"I'm not sure, I could hardly get through the ones that I was made to read in school." DG smirked at Cain as he attempted to make it seem like he was fine, which she knew he wasn't, it was easy for her to tell.

"A change in scenery will be nice. So.. why don't you tell me what happened? And don't try to dance around it because if you don't you know that I'll find someone who will." Now perhaps being that direct wasn't exactly how to go about it but she wanted to know what he knew.

"Usually some stupid and despirate girl gets hired as a servent at some debauched lord's mansion. She gets it in her head he just needs love and understanding to see him through. They usually end in a marriage and pregnancy. Or a fire and insane wife..."

Okay it bought him a few seconds.

Why was he even trying. It wasn't like him. But he didn't want to add to her trouble or hurt.

Offering him a glare she positioned herself to sit up, only hissing lightly when she applied too much pressure on her wounded hand. "Funny, now how about you tell me what I wanted to know and stop trying to avoid it?"

She understood why he was being like this but at the same time it was frustrating her, she had a right to know and he didn't have the right to keep it from her. Yeah it was going to hurt him to tell her but, on the same note, it would hurt her to let her imagination run wild.

"Please."

"How much do you remember?" Cain wished he had his hat to tug down. It was handy for hiding his eyes ( ... )

"The last thing I remember is talking to Zero, and then black. I didn't get to see Az except for when we first got to the hideout, then they knocked me out to keep me from talking." DG went silent as he explained the things to her and she just nodded her head, there wasn't much else to do.

"You don't need to ask for another ambassador, she was trying to get her and Azkadellia out of the room they were tied up in." How did she know that? Blinking a couple times she shifted on the bed and offered a small, and yet sad smile to Cain.

"The globe is a very effective and impossible to escape from, prison, it makes sense."
