Who: Eliza, Azzy, Karma and open.
When: January 19th, 10 am.
Where: Az's room.
What: Eliza wants to see the princess.
Eliza was awake at eight the next morning, finding one of the maids asleep next to her bed on her chair. Not wishing to wake the woman up, the little girl slipped out of bed in her nightgown, pulled on a sweater, a pair of fuzzy, light blue slippers, and left her room in silence. Once in the hall, she let her bright, wide eyes wander for several moments, simply standing outside her door.
She was used to waking up early and leaving her nanny to wander around the house alone at home, but it hadn't been as big as the castle. There would be more places to explore around here, maybe she could find more new friends. Several nights ago, she'd found the princess Az and another woman who'd shown her all sorts of neat things in Glitch's lab. There was bound to be more interesting people around this place, or maybe she could find her mommy, who'd disappeared sometime around the party. Evian, her brother, had already gone home with the butler, but Eliza had wanted to stay.
Picking a direction, she wandered down the hall, pausing every so often to peek inside a vase or gaze curiously at a painting or out a window into the gardens. Eventually, Eliza came across a young man, not a guard, maybe a page or a servant by the looks of him, scampering around the floor and trying to pick up a bunch of papers.
"Hello." The young man didn't seem to hear her, and Eliza came closer, reaching for one of the leaves of paper to study it. It looked like a bill, and she simply held it out to him.
"Oh, thanks little girl." He didn't think it strange to find a little girl standing in her nightgown and fuzzy slippers in front of him, plucking the paper from her hand before finally pausing in his fretting to study her. "What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be with your mommy?"
"I can't find her."
"Oh, well alright then... Hey, why don't you come with me. Here, you can help me," he handed her half of his stack of papers. "Can you carry these for me?"
"Sure!"
About an hour later, the boy - who identified himself as Oliver - and Eliza had delivered the papers to one of the other nobles, and she asked if he knew where the animals were kept in the castle. Eliza liked puppies and kittens and ponies, even if her mommy had always said animals were smelly and belonged outside. On their way down to the kennels, she told Oliver all about meeting the princess, then Scraps, and eventually about how she was alone in the palace now, as far as she knew. He'd told her about working as a servant in the castle, and how he was friends with some of the kennel trainers.
Once they'd gotten down there, Eliza ran up to the gate with a happy squeal, and a crowd of multi-colored puppies ran up on the other side, yapping up at her. Reaching her little hands through the holes in the fence, she tried to pet them all at once.
In the meantime, Oliver had disappeared for several moments to reappear with a taller man, who allowed Eliza to play with the puppies until she got another idea.
"Mister, does Az have a puppy?"
"Why, yes, this black one right here, actually... Her name's Karma."
"Karma!" At the girl's voice, the dog licked her face, knocking her over. "Mister, can I take Karma to see Azzy? She was kidnapped, you know," she nodded seriously, as if this would be news to the trainer, "and I think she might like to see Karma. She's like a big teddy bear, and teddy bears always make people feel better when they're all sad."
"I think Karma deserves a little break then, you don't forget to bring her back though, Eliza, all right?"
"Of course!"
Oliver helped Eliza find Azkadellia's room, and the puppy bounced along behind them all the way there. Then, the young man went about some other duties, and Eliza knocked dutifully before Sergei said that Az should probably be awake by now, and Eliza should just let herself in.
The moment the door opened, the puppy pushed past her into the room, and the little girl followed. "Az!"
