Who: Gabriel, Sarah, Peter
When: January 12th, 10 am.
Where: Castle grounds, various castle locales.
What: Gabriel settles in.
Lower teeth met with upper lip, grazing across the tender skin as deep brown eyes studied the daunting building. This was it. Gabriel Grey gave a last look over his shoulder at the bar he had just emerged from across the way. The castle before him signified something greater in store, he knew. From here it was only up. Gripping tightly to the suitcase in his hand, the scruff-faced man made his way up the small hill that led to the gate of the castle. Of course it was closed. Ever since the return of the true Azkadellia, the place had been on a lockdown. From a distance he and the other longcoats had seen the numerous numbers of guards just waiting to swarm on the first intruder they saw. Hence, Gabriel was dressed inconspicuously to try and blend in, an attempt to create a new persona that could be trusted. No stylish black coat would be found in his possession anytime soon.
Running his teeth over his lips again, he gave a light smile--the smile he had worked so hard on to perfect--to the uniformed guards manning the gate. They did not smile back.
"Hello there," Gabriel greeted lightly, persuading his expression to hold a look of friendliness. Apparently friendliness worked, for one of the guards allowed his eyes to shift to the man. "I was wondering if um..." he paused, biting his lip in nervousness. "If um... see uh, my car broke down, and I have no idea where I am. I'm lost you see, and I have no money and--"
The guard frowned, finally speaking. "And what should I do about it?" he asked, his tone impatient.
"Well, perhaps I could seek shelter here until I can contact my family?" Gabriel asked, shifting his eyes away as if expecting a brutal blow to the head for asking such a request.
There was no brutal blow, only a dry laugh. "You expect me to allow a stranger into the castle?"
"You can check my things if you want, I'll show you ID, I'll do whatever you ask," he said quickly, setting down the suitcase and lifting his hands disarmingly. "I'm not from around here," he reminded the guard. "I have no money for a room..." he added on quietly, trying to make his voice as pitiful as possible.
The guard rolled his eyes. "Can it and open the suitcase," he directed. Gabriel followed instructions and allowed the man to shift through his belongings without protest. When the guard was satisfied, he stood straight and eyed Gabriel. "ID," he demanded and the longcoat produced it without an issue. Of course the ID was a fake that said Mr. Grey was from another Kingdom, but it was authentic enough. "I'll need to pat you down," the guard said before his expression turned into distaste, but he performed the duty as he was taught. "Very well," the guard sighed reluctantly when no incriminating evidence could be found. "I'll let you in, at which point you'll have to face the men at the main doors." When Gabriel frowned at the thought, the guard smirked to himself. "I've made you no promises," he reminded Gabriel before giving the signal to open the gate.
Obstactle one, overcome.
The trek to the main entrance was a long one, but at least the landscaping along the way made it pleasurable. A grand staircase led up to the doors... and the next pair of guards. As he made his way up the steps, he could feel the guards' eyes on him like hawks. These two were not uniformed and were much more angry looking. Not to mention part giant. Nothing he couldn't handle.
But he wouldn't. He wouldn't. That's not why he was here. At least... not yet. Gabriel reminded himself of this as he came upon the men, opening with the same story he had just told the man at the gate. These two were much more reluctant to let him pass. In fact, they were giving him hell about it.
"You think this is a hotel?" one snapped at him, his eyes narrowing. "You think the royal palace has open rooms, free for the taking?"
Gabriel frowned, looking down. "No... but but..." he sighed, and slumped. Maybe pity was the key.
Nope. An annoyed eyeroll was all he got. He tried again. "I don't have any money, I'm lost, okay?" he sighed hopelessly again, only to find the guard staring at him unconvinced. "Not my problem."
Obstacle two? Pain in the ass.
