blarrrgh!!!
tonight mika and i had our first dj event as ice cream shout. i had prepared under the assumption that we would be the only people playing but it turned out that there were other djs too. my epic three hour set was trimmed to a mere 40 minutes. we took it in stride and planned to give priority to our original songs.
when it came time to go on things didn't happen so smoothly. we used a laptop instead of the turntables and no one seemed to know how to connect a laptop to the mixer. first it was connected to the phono input which produced a wonderful flabby distorted bass and screeching. i was pretty sure line input should work but for some reason no signal came out when we tried it.
we decided to postpone so i could run home and check on the internet. sure enough line connection should do the trick (i suspect the mixer at the bar - it's not in the best condition and the cross fader doesn't even work). by the time i got back though mika had thrown up her liter of wine and gone home, somehow missing me in the process.
so here i am back home all hopped up and nothing to do. seems like a good time to make a long overdue update to livejournal. i guess as far as debuts go, it doesn't get any more rock n roll than a 30 second set of distorted noise followed by puking.
