Ruby packed, so to speak. She grabbed some clothes and shoved them in a bag and then went to Alec's.
Alec's was the place to be, she didn't care much about what she'd packed, it wasn't like the something blue rule applied to her, so she'd just grabbed things that resembled clothes but could have been sheets and a pair of heels that weren't her usual kickass boots.
Excited didn't even begin to cover it, she was freakin' bubbling and if she didn't lie, and didn't ignore her own past, she would have admitted she'd felt this way very very few times. Three to be precise. Two had ended badly, both in the 'glory' of battle, and only one had ended mercifully well, old age.
This one, well, she was banking on not making any bets. She wasn't one for hope, so hoping for the best was out of the question. Taking it day by day was more the route she was taking, even if day by day sometimes scared her. At the risk of sounding cheesey, at least she'd have someone to hold her hand day by day.
She knocked on Alec's open door, leaning against the doorframe with her head tilted awat from it, and smiled at him. She'd never expected... she'd never wanted... He didn't care that she was a demon, he took her for what she was. She did the same for him, he was an X5, she understood that. That day by day thing was going to be half the fun for them, they were still learning.
"Ready yet?" she asked, bending down to grab Trouble as he tried to escape, beaming as he purred at her for the first time. "You finally like me, sugar?" she whispered to him, kissing his not so little anymore head before looking back up at Alec, still grinning.
