Life don't talk to me about life

Came back from hols last week and had the usual massive amount of washing etc to catch up with, plus final opportunity to meet up with old acquaintance from the antypods temporarily in UK promoting a book, and the symposium of Learned Soc heretofore referred to.
And then finally got on to various outstanding things that had been hanging over my head while I disported myself in the Mediterranean sunshine.
This was not aided by the fact that access to the email account pertaining to my former workplace with which I still have a connection started coming up with the error message 'Your account has been temporarily locked to prevent unauthorised use. Try again later, and if you still have trouble, contact your admin' and kept on doing this. Emails to IT support and phonecall to the helpline raised no response and yesterday I finally contacted Departmental Admin Person, to find that IT had cut off my account (and also my access pass had been similarly decommissioned) as of end of Oct, WTF, no warning (I don't think this affected only me). This has now been fixed, and I have logged in to discover that IT were sending Incident Reports about my blocked email account to, yes, the blocked account I was unable to log in to.
This meant that several things could not be done, and in fact I had had at least one very agitated email about A Thing I have been asked to do next week.
Have also been making advance travel arrangements for a conference in the New Year.
Have realised that conference I am going to next month is going to be on Election Day and I should therefore apply for a postal vote, I suppose.
Two, count 'em, two requests to contribute to things on a subject I would really rather not.
Somebody soliciting me to ask to review their new book.
Also, if anyone has any thoughts on feminist/enviromental science fiction, bring them on (another thing I have been solicited for Mi Thorts abouts). This entry was originally posted at https://oursin.dreamwidth.org/2998768.html. Please comment there using OpenID. View
