It's not random chance telling him, is it?

Okay, there are quite a number of 'cult books' of the 60s and 70s that I have never read, partly because it seemed to me at the time - and largely seems still - that a significant proportion were Bloke Books of the blokiest kind.
Among these books I have never read is numbered 'Luke Rhinehart's The Dice Man.
There is an interview with the actual author, who is not called Luke Rhinehart, in today's Guardian.
And I am really, really glad that I did not waste any time reading this book that was claimed to have had life-changing impact:
'[H]e will make decisions using dice. He offers the dice options, and they choose for him. The dice tell him to rape his neighbour[.]'
Repeating here: He offers the dice options. Saying 'the dice made me do it!' is exculpating himself for a decision that he had at least contemplated by putting it as one of the options.
The dice do not choose. The options have already been set up.
