That was a great event... but

To an event on Matter of Historical Interest (not an academic conference but full of useful references and hints for further reading), held in a gallery in connection with an exhibition there.
The event itself was great apart from a few timing issues, but, honestly, if gallery in question is going to put on Events as well as having quite substantial numbers of visitors, they need to Do Something about loos.
Even had one cubicle not been out of order, there would still have been horrendous queues in (and out into the corridor and up the stairs) the ladies.
Also, it's all very well to say at lunchbreak that there are lovely places around to eat, when you have somewhat under an hour to spend on the matter and don't want to go too far.
There was a promising looking bakery/coffee shop with huge queue. There was a KFC and a Burger King.
There was what looked like a promising sandwich/coffee shop, where, on inspection, ALL the sandwiches on offer contained cheese.
I ended up in the gallery cafe, which provided coffee with some expedition but took so long about my sandwich that I thought I would miss the beginning of the pm session.
Okay, in the realm of first world problems, but still niggling. This entry was originally posted at http://oursin.dreamwidth.org/2400724.html. Please comment there using OpenID. View
