For some reason, we haven't ventured into Wig and Pen - despite E's recent interest in boutique beers etc. We finally got a group of friends to join us for an after-work dinner one night, to try the place out. Arriving slightly late for after-work drinks, the place was super duper packed. A friend actually had to wait outside because the place was at its full capacity, and can't legally let any more people in.
The place wasn't really well set out. There weren't much space to stand around the bar, when there aren't any seats available. So we awkwardly hang around in the middle of the room, dodging people while they entered the place. Luckily, as a few of us turned up, a group of people started leaving and we pounced on their table :P
Wig and Pen is a micro-brewery, offering a few of their concoction at the place. E said that he liked the beers that he ordered, other friends seem to agree. I have to admit, Wig and Pen have a good humour at their beer names - one being 'Big Ass' which was the best fruitiest smelling beer I've ever sniffed in my life so far. There was also one that's along the line of 'Bill's Hairy Armpit' - none of us ordered that one, a shame really, I am curious to see what that one smells like :)
We weren't going to have dinner at the place, but we decided that we should, because we couldn't decide on a place and I was hungry. Unfortunately, Wig and Pen's offer of food weren't very good at all. Their chips were fine, not oily, crispy but fluffy on the inside. But everything else were blah! Not worth the price, and certainly not worth waiting for.
If you're interested in a different kind of pub to go to, either for after-word drinks or just a catch up session with a few of your mates, go and try Wig and Pen. They don't take booking, so you'd have to chance it or wait like we did :)
