My room! (:

Hello! Longtime lurker, first time poster here. My name is Katie, I'm eighteen and I live in Maine. I'm currently still with my mum and we just moved back in August of last year. This room was a horrible lime green when we moved in but I got it painted in late September and as a massive David Bowie fan, I thought the lyrics in the cut were appropriate. Hope you enjoy my room!

My mum decorates for every holiday and I do mean every holiday, hence the shamrocks for the upcoming St. Patrick's Day. We're also Irish, so she'd probably leave them up year round if she weren't so adamant about decorating for everything else.

Here's an up close, slightly blurry picture of the sign I made for my door. It's the poem from the Gringotts Bank doors in Harry Potter. Yes, I am most definitely an HP geek.

My mum makes bulletin boards and made this one for me a couple of years ago. I know since it's so loaded with things, it's hard to see the fabric pattern on it, but it's black with pink polka dots. If anyone's got questions about the stuff on the board, feel free to ask in the comments. The hat above it is something my Vietnamese friend got me the last time she was in Vietnam.

Yes, that is a Time-Turner. And my clothes hamper where I occasionally put my dirty clothes after they've most likely been on my floor for about a week.

My lovely armchair! A few stuffed animals, my sketchbook and notebook and my beautiful hardcover copy of According to The Rolling Stones, which I am determined to put on my coffee table when I'm out on my own someday. The hassock it's sitting on holds my bedsheets. Yes, I am a true blue, diehard Yankees fan as you can see by the cap on the back of the chair. There's also a Fedora I got at a yard sale and an Avenged Sevenfold cap. If it seems like I've got a lot of purple things (the bin, the pillow on the chair), it's because my old room was purple. (:

Yes, I know, who's even heard of a VCR these days? I've only got about six remaining VHS tapes, but it was enough to keep the VCR. Another little Yankee cap, my high school diploma, the little bell says Katherine on it. My friend gave me the little owl with the grad cap for graduation and my mum got me the Jack Skellington plushy.

Dust? What dust? I've had that N64 since I was very young and no matter how many new gaming systems come out, I just can't part with it. My betta fish's name is Captain Jack. But he's named after Captain Jack Harkness, not Sparrow. Points if you know who Harkness is, 'cause far too many people don't.

Again... dust? What dust? My wonderful record player doesn't really get put to use anymore because there's no room anywhere for the speakers. Lots of incense and a reed diffuser.

This photo of New York City (where I was born and forever my real home) was given to me by my grandmother, as well as the desk. I know the extension cord hanging down by it looks awful but it's the only way I could plug in the blue fairy lights that go all the way around my room near the ceiling.

A seven day dry erase calendar and a My Chemical Romance mask from when I pre-ordered the deluxe version of The Black Parade Is Dead!

This is the wall above my bed. Love me some Mick and Keith! The plaque at the top is an e.e. Cummings quote and the two in the middle are from my seven years in middle school and high school chorus, and as my varsity letter from chorus as well.

This is on the same wall above my bed, but he means so much to me that he deserves his own photo. The Bowie buttons attached to the canvas are from a friend for my birthday.

My wonderful bed that has two very comfy mattresses. Flannel snowman sheets are badass. (:

This three drawer cabinet doubles as my bedside table and a laptop stand. My laptop needs to remain plugged in all the time as the battery is dead and I haven't gotten a new one yet, so I figured since I use it all the time, I'd plug it in right next to my bed. The books next to it under the tissues are what I'm currently reading and behind the cabinet is what I so eloquently refer to as the "junk corner" where I put notebooks/puzzle books and such that I use occasionally.

The Anglophile in me begged for this until I got it. :D

My bookcase, which is not nearly big enough. I still have books packed in boxes in my closet (which is not pictured, by the way since it's so messy. It's got my dresser in it, though, as well as my clothes that require hangers) because I haven't got a lot of room. The cubby on the very bottom right holds my measly DVD collection. The bookcase itself looks terrible; we meant to paint it but didn't get around to it before winter arrived, hence the paint and filler in the very top left cubby.

Some photos of my friends and I; the photo of Dominic Monaghan in the LOL frame is signed by him and was sent to me by my amazing, wonderful, lovely friend Nadia who you can see in the black frame with the Fall Out Boy patch sitting on it. She's the best. She also sent me that awesome Bowie postcard as well as the frame behind it, which you'll find out about in a minute. There's a pair of antique binoculars there from my grandmother and she also gave me the little typewriter decoration as I'm a writer. The little container with the rose on it was a tea party favour and contains a super tiny sewing kit for on-the-go use.

Yes, that is Billy Boyd and yes, it is signed by him. Another gift from Nadia. She also sent me the Peanuts books. I don't wear belts so I don't get a chance to wear the Puerto Rico (I'm half Puerto Rican) belt buckle ever, or the Avenged Sevenfold one. The necklaces lying out are the ones I wear most often. The little thing of post-it notes is meant for anyone who needs to leave me a note when I'm gone, etc. The painting was done by a friend in art class during my senior year of high school and she hated it, so she gave it to me. Personally, I love it! Yes, more Yankees stuff... the foam finger is from a game I went to when I was eight and the hidden thing that says Alex Rodriguez is a flip coin with him and Derek Jeter on it.

A view from the bedroom door. I love my blackout curtains.

The face behind the room, in case you were interested. Thanks for looking!
