So I finally decided on a color for my walls (a nice tan/beige to offset the blue carpet and bedding) but my next problem lies in the filth in the carpet.
As we cannot afford to rip it up and relay something darker and nicer, we'll be attacking it with some serious cleaning and I was looking for the best advice here. It's a lighter blue carpet, but from not having been cleaned in...I wanna say almost 10 years give or take, the dirt has gotten seriously bad in that some places look to be a dark brown and/or oatmeal color. I had mice over the winter and they also left some hardcore stains.
We're most likely going to rent a rug doctor as that's the only thing in town, but as far as other cleaning products to help get some of the oil/grease stains from my computer chair (don't ask), the mess from the mice and the impacted dirt out would be wonderful. Even if it doesn't get it all, something that would make a HUGE improvement is what I want.
Thanks, if needed I'll take pictures later and edit them into the post to show you how bad it is in some placed.
