well..last time i posted here i lived in miami, florida. a couple months later and a move to new orleans, la, and then ultimately to paris, france, here i am again!
i should have taken photos before i redid my room, as this is the third time that i've redone it, but oh well. i live in a residence apartment with a bunch of people in my study-abroad program at NYU, and i'm grateful that my room isn't a hangout room so i can play with it a bit. i'm sad that i don't have before and after photos...i have a video i might upload, but that's just irritating.
oh, intro time. hi, i'm lonnie. i'm 18 and i live in paris, france, in a 25 meter2 studio in the oberkampf district. all the furniture in here minus the hangar rack came with the place, including the linens. i want to change my sheets and the duvet cover because i hate this white on white on white look, but living in europe off the USD is dreadfully painful, so i'm trying to work it as much as possible.
also, ignore my semi-messy room. i really didn't feel like studying today.
i wanted to do this thing where i could sorta make it feel like two rooms one, so i have my bed pushed up near against my window, with my desk/table against the headboard so it's like i have a study, and a bedroom. whenever i get more time i'm going to try to differentiate between the two with different pieces of art. for now i just have to deal.
oh yeah, and the bed is one of the cool european sofabeds that are actually made to be slept on everyday, but i just never turn it into a couch, ever. i did it for the first time yesterday when moving around my room.
i guess i'll show you my kitchenette as well. it's ridiculously tiny and i despise cooking because it's just too tiny for me to work with. and there's no storage. >:(
here's my "pantry." my mom was kind and sent me a package with a ton of red beans, black beans, tony chachere, and luzianne sweet tea. oh, and kraft macaroni and some zatarans premix, woohoo.
this is the joke closet they expect me to use for my clothes. so sad.
i would have shown a photo of my bathroom, but it's a bit dirty. the maid's coming tomorrow so i might edit this with a photo just because french showers are really weird, being all raised and such.
oh, and yeah. there really are like.. soot spots on the ceiling and around the walls in the room. the people here basically told me to suck it up when i complained, and they won't really give me any linens that i can use to do a real wipe-down. it's kind of gross actually, but i can't really do anything about it.
oh, how my room was set up before: the bed was where the desk was coming out long ways, with the nightstand next to it, my table next to that, then my bookshelf with all my clothes over there, where the foot of the bed now is, and the desk was where the bookshelf/hanging rack was. i had lots of floor space, but it was boring me. yep.
okay well, do you have any ideas or opinions how i can spruce my place up a bit? i'm thinking of buying another curtain since the current one i have is god ugly (it actually matches that lump of whatever at the bottom of my pantry), or some ideas for art to throw around my room. the two "posters" i have up now were rasterbated. the black and white one is an image of a streetcar on st. charles in new orleans, and the other one is the world lit up at night.
