As an experiment in cheap-ass computing, I bought a used IBM Thinkpad 570e. As far as I can tell, it was put together sometime in 2000, shipped with Win98. Somewhere along the line, my lappy acquired an obscene amount of RAM--320 MiB--which is pretty amazing considering that consumer systems at around that time were shipping with 128 MB or so.
