Yesterday boiled down to poking at personal issues that I've had packed away on shelves for far too long.  It'll take more than a day to sort all that out.  More than a 4-day weekend.  Possibly more than a lifetime, but...well, you do what you can.

Feeling a bit ragged around the edges, but still plodding on.  Frequent internal pep talks...and more sleep wouldn't hurt.

Phenology:  primroses are blooming, likewise the sweet woodruff, and the alarming lipstick-colored species tulips.

Half a dozen nice, fat asparagus spears.  Plus some thinnings from the garden (brassica and fenugreek sprouts) and some chives.  So, not enough to live on, but it's a nice start.

Toasty warm here today.  Tulips are open, likewise the bellwort and creeping phlox.  The weeping higan cherry tree exploded in blooms seemingly overnight.

I did go out to do yardwork after all, for about 4 hours.  Productive.  I planted the shallots and all the potatoes (and everything fit in the beds!), cleared and leveled the wide path in the "new" garden and put down clover seed, hauled and placed the fourteen 12x12 pavers to mark the between-bed paths, did some basic clearing of the asparagus bed ( Read more... )

We had less than an inch of snow, late Friday.  Far as I can tell, all it did was motivate the spring bulbs.  Two other kinds of crocus are starting to bloom now, and tulip leaves are up, and some of the daffodils are budded, and the bulbs around the birch in the front yard are up too ( Read more... )
