an argument for rational feminism

So recently mapdark made an entry saying how he was irritated that this new floor his gym was building would be women only, whilst the first floor would remain co-ed. He expressed concern that some women were being flirty and annoying on the machines in the co-ed room, taking up more time on the machines than necessary to show of boobs, whatever. I'm gonna jump right out there, play devil's advocate and say that working out is a lot harder with some creepbag staring at you and drooling ( ... )

No, it's just bad that women get their own exclusive room, and the men's area is still co-ed.
So women can go anywhere, but men have to stay in one area, which may be occupied by all women.

This is why I suggested, a women's only section, a men's only section, and a co-ed section.

And what you say is no doubt true, I'm sure it is hard to work out with some creepazoid staring at you -- but I'm sure there's more than one uncomfortable and not confident man who's probably old or flabby or something and doesn't want women to see him like that. That's all. :3

I'm certain there is.

The difference is I guess that more women complain about it.

It's just like handicapped parking or no smoking laws or whatever. They're silly because if a business wants to keep customers, it'll do what it sees asked for a lot. You COULD force them to do that, but that's silly. Naturally they want your money, so if there's a real reason for a men's only area? They'll be on top of adding one so fast. Youknow. Just like a restaurant would go no smoking even without a law or a store would put a handicapped spot out front. Because it knows it'll make money.

But uhm I just can't see anyone sitting down and saying 'a men's only gym will make me tons of money!' (except in the gayborhood :D) and so really that's what it boils down to. :I

Mapdark's suggestion was 'I should be allowed to go there anyway' or 'get rid of it' which is quite silly.

P.S. I hope I haven't come across as snarky or anything I'm just sorta playing for the other side here. :D

Not at all, you're presenting a logical and reality-based debate, which is all I ever ask for in intelligent discussion.

You're not calling me full of bullshit for having a differing opinion and you're not OMGZ INTERNETTING about it, you're just presenting something else, which is a fresh breath of air, I must say. Usually when someone disagrees with you on the Internet, they flip out and call you a troll or something gay. It's nice to have a well-structured debate.
