More PDF info, Googlebooks

So, I did some poking around on DriveThru.com (and the indie brand half of the site, RPGNow). Turns out I can set the products I put up there to allow for free updates! I thought I would have to do this type of thing on my own.

My plan originally was to sell single-hit PDFs of, say, the core book for $10.95, and then sell an "infinite copy" of it for around $20. The second option would effectively allow a customer to buy that version of the book, and also every subsequent version of that book (revisions, 2nd Editions, that sort of thing). I spent weeks trying to figure out how to do this: creating membership databases, figuring out secure download practices, etc.

Then, low and behold, I can just have RPGNow do all of this for me. Such a relief! So I'm just going to skip the one-hit sales, and sell all of my PDF products as free update files. The core book will be $17.50, and the Player's Guide will be $14.50.

Which reminds me. I'm over half-way done cleaning up the Player's Guide, getting it set for PDF release. As soon as it's done as well (and as soon as the website updates are completed), we'll go live on RPGNow.

Also, another place I am looking into having a presence is on googlebooks. I'd be up there already, but their upload javascript doesn't like me. I sent word to their tech support, so hopefully that will be resolved shortly.

Anyway, that's about it for now. After I get the PDFs up and running, I'll be focusing my attention on novel editing, then short game supplements (adventures and that sort of "support product" things), and the Ref's Guide, hopefully all out there by the end of the year.
