Well, it's been a productive past couple of days. I got my plane tickets to Michigan for the holidays-I'll fly in the 17th and leave the 28th. The whole trip makes me nervous for a myriad of reasons. As for the simplest reason: I'm always taking suggestions on ways to combat airsickness as well as combat my absolute fear of flying. The two go hand in hand-the fear just makes me feel more sick, and vomiting just makes me more fearful.
I've also started purchasing holiday gifts. Normally I would've started much earlier than this, so I feel a little worried about that. However, going to Michigan will give me extra time to buy presents for Chris and his family if it really gets to be that big of a deal, and I think I know what I'm buying for Johnathan and Mom and Dad. I can probably get online and order most of it today, if I wanted.
Which leads me to my next set of concerns: Money, just because the holidays are such a huge expense all at once and my paychecks will be non-existent for about a month because the college is closed from the middle of December to the middle of January. Ick. The only money I'll be making will come from my private tutoring and yes, that's helpful, but no, that's not nearly enough to pay the bills. Thank goodness I've got some money saved up.
Anyway, I did get some NaNo done yesterday but I'm also starting to feel concerned that I'm so far behind. I enjoyed the pep-talk-email from Neil Gaiman, though. His word of advice: Write.
First, however, I think I need to chill out. I've got a couple of students to tutor today and I think Chris and I are going to spend the time between students at the mall, so I can deepen my money worries but probably alleviate some of my needing-to-buy-holiday-gift worries.
Anyone want holiday cards? Mailing holiday cards is one of the few things I love about the holidays. It's just a dorky, quirky feature of mine.
