The biggest game of the year in the NFL takes place on Sunday in Miami. What is it, well if you've been hibernating you don't know. Superbowl XLI (41) will pit the Chicago Bears, who ran rampant through the NFC much of the season, and the Indianapolis Colts. The colts are the surprise team only because they stumbled quite heavily down the stretch, that and the San Diego Chargers were figured to go. The Chargers fell to the late game heroics of one Tom Brady and the Patriots, who were then beaten by the aforementioned Colts.
Anyway, about the game. The Bears have the best defense in the league in everything except the passing game (5th), and a fairly decent offense. The Bears have "the worst superbowl quarterback in history" in Rex Grossman. I tend not to agree with that, but he is a bit on the streaky side. The Colts, had the worst run defense ever, but in the playoffs have found a way to stiffen up and only allowed 220 total rushing yards in the three games. They of course have probably the best quarterback in the game in Payton Manning, and one of the best receiving duos in Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne.
The interesting thing about these teams, both offenses scored the same number of points during the regular season. If you think about it, you'll say not possible but it is, and they did. Of course the Bears have a MUCH better defense then the Colts, but we'll see how that plays out. For my prediction, I'm going with DA Bears in a defensive minded game. 31-28, with the special teams coming up big to really seal the game for them. Payton throws for 2 touchdowns (one to Harrison and the other to Dallas Clark), and one interception. Rex throws for 2 td's also, and 2 picks, but the special teams returns a punt for a touchdown to put them over the top.
That's it for me, and remember, there is no I in team, but there is in wIn.
