(vacation bacon 1) In transit and Benazir Bhutto

We've been staying at my mother's famiy's house for the past week in Dumaguete. The unstable internet in their area has made me unable to work on many of the fics and, frustratingly enough, has not given me the time that I wanted to read the Snupin Santa fics. I am extremely annoyed by this turn of events. Come on, I haven't even read more than a handful and I swear, when I get to a place that offers a better connection, I will be on those fics and arts like a predator. NGARGH.

Happy holidays to those who are celebrating this holiday, though. Today's Christmas wasn't really something special, or something I anticipated. I spent the entire night holed in the room with my siblings while my parents attended our extended family's party outside. We had a nice time talking about books and Disney movies. I visited a few friends in Dumaguete, also a professor and caught up with some gossip in my old university. A lot of things have changed, but I'm (selfishly) kind of glad that some things stay the same. Although I'm still not happy with the LACK OF WIRELESS INTERNET. >:\

And I ate and ate and ate and ate. It's my way of compensating, because I couldn't read any fics. :(

Currently in-transit, on our way to Mindanao to visit my father's family for New Year. As most of you know, we do this every year. It's the first time in a week that I had a somewhat reliable internet connection and a TV that is ours and ours alone, since we're staying in a small motel in Cebu. I'm glad we finally got to stop, even for a few hours. We just spent 6 hours travelling by bus to Cebu, and then we'll wait for a few hours so we can catch an early flight to Butuan.

I'm also glad for the stop because it gives us time to catch up with the entire world. I got stunned when, upon turning on the TV, the first news that greeted me is that Benazir Bhutto was assassinated.

Oh wow. For a few seconds, my siblings and I just stared at the TV in shock, before we all shouted: "NO WAY." I'll still be catching up with the developments on Pakistan right now, but...god. I wonder what will happen to the opposition now? I've never heard of them having someone else who can replace her. She was really iconic.

Hoping theres internet in Butuan... *crosses fingers for future of fandom*
