And, whoa, when it started
My first thought was love
And not just lust
Cause when I heard you speak
I felt warm
At first, Kamio was annoyed by Shinji's rambling because it interrupted his music and threw off his rhythm, but one day, as they walked home from tennis practice, Kamio's mp3 player's batteries ran out. He left the headphones in his ears but turned his attention to Shinji, who was, as usual, in the midst of a monologue.
As they walked, Kamio began to realize that Shinji's mumbles actually had a sort of cadence to them, and he began to drum his fingers on his leg in time with his friend's voice.
Now when they walk home, Kamio puts his headphones on but doesn't play any music. Shinji's rhythm suits him just perfectly.
