Neither Bruce nor Alan had been surprised he had been denied bail. He'd been caught on the scene, covered in his girlfriends blood and to call the man a flight risk is an understatement.
Alan had given it his best but they'd both known it was for show. Bruce Wayne had a new address - he'd been transferred after the bail hearing to Blackgate Penitentiary - actually not the worst place he'd ever been.
"So,"
He says, sitting down.
"What's a nice boy like you doing in a place like this?"
Harry watches him closely, searching for signs of how he's doing. Which is kind of a joke. How is he supposed to be doing? His girlfriend is dead, and they think he did it.
"I heard they were serving meat loaf for dinner."
This is so fucking surreal. He's visiting Bruce in prison, and he's not the one on the wrong side of the bars. Really fucking surreal.
"This was the soonest they'd let me come. How are you?" Stupid question, but it has to be asked.
"Sorry, Kiddo - dinner here is by select invitation only - but you stop by and see Alfred and I'm sure he'll whip together something filled with carbs and topped with gravy
( ... )
Harry is crazy, Bruce. You can give the kid a psych degree, but he's still going to be taking medication for the rest of his life. At least he's not Norman crazy. There's that right?
There's going to be no convincing him that Bruce did this unless Bruce confesses to him. Even then, he just can't see it. Not the way she died.
She was shot. Bruce saw his parents die in front of him. He saw his mother get shot when he was eight. If Bruce is going to kill a woman, and Harry can't see that, not when he's taken to Harry to task over how to treat women during the years, he's not going to shoot one. He didn't do this.
"Yeah, I'm going to see Alfred after I leave here." He doesn't say to check up on him, but essentially yes that's exactly what he plans to do. Because this is just so fucked up.
"I'm sorry about Vesper, Bruce." His voice is a little throaty when he says it. Because he really did like Vesper. A lot. It's just so fucked up that she's dead. Why is everyone always so fucked up. "I know you didn't do it. Alan will prove it."
