30 in 30 Part 4 - American Values

Greetings Citizens. I've just been thinking about what America means to me, and I hope our country means as much to you, too.

America is about hope. That's why we need to protect our borders and be constantly vigilant, so that the illegal immigrants can't take the American Dream away from us.

America is about freedom. That's why the government has approved and used the USA/PATRIOT Act, in order to protect our freedoms. Unless we can lock away any threats to American citizens or the government, we can never have freedom.

America is about democracy. That's why we have spread our democracy to Iraq, where the Iraqi republic works to manage the country equitably -- so long as our troops remain there to protect them in the Green Zone.

America is about leading the world. That's why we invade other countries to spread our message, including our progressive approach to fighting terrorism and drugs.

America is about lending a helping hand. That's why we have worked so diligently to rebuild Afghanistan into a global economic powerhouse, and will soon do the same with Iraq.

America is about healthy, happy lives. That's why we offer health care to some our poor people, and then discontinue welfare benefits after a few months. This convinces them to get good, well-paying jobs with health insurance that are so abundant in the Land of Plenty.

America is about progress. That's why we have conservative leaders who are restoring our values, and stopping dangerous ideas like abortion rights and gay marriage.

America is about individualism. That's why we reinforce the power of the individual by promoting commercialism. If the economy does good, then each individual has the power to choose which SUV he wants. The power to choose between the next American Idol is at your fingertips, citizens.

America is about equality. That's why we are so tough on crime. Also, many Arabs are plotting against us, so we need to watch out for them. And don't forget the death penalty, which is a true example of equality: eye for an eye justice.

America is about civil liberties. That's why we do such a good job of protecting them, so long as people don't say or do something wrong. We must put more cameras in public places, so that everyone can be watched. It can stop all kinds of crime, from terrorism to burglary to traffic violations.

America is about justice. That's why we have detained enemy combatants, including American citizens, in Guantanamo Bay to protect America. We do not need to charge them, we already know they are guilty. The best way to protect the constitution is to keep the enemy locked away.

America is about peace. That's why we have kept peace at home by attacking the terrorists where they live. By taking the war abroad, we have saved countless Americans from dying at home where you would have had to watch them on TV. Instead, the media has been largely silent about the two or so troops per day who die in Iraq, giving you peace of mind. War is Peace.

America is about values. America is about Big Brother.
