but I'll be away from LJ for a couple of weeks, starting on the 26th, since I'm going back east to help out at home while my father recuperates from coronary artery bypass surgery

*hugs you* Right now, it sounds like it may be a challenge finding time to sit down, once I get there--let alone fire off an email! No member of my family has ever voluntarily thrown anything away, but my mom is now talking about using this visit as an opportunity for purging something like 40 years worth of clutter "because I don't want you to have to deal with it all by yourself when we're gone." I should probably be worried that she and I seem to be bonding over our shared hoarder tendencies...

Plus, I'm afraid that if I started venting, I'd never stop--I love my parents and often wish I could clone them and share them, but sometimes my mother makes me want to tear my hair out. (We're too much alike, that's why we butt heads.) And you're dealing with so much now, yourself.

As for William, alas, his fate is sealed: he's going to live at the vet's for two and a half weeks. They love him there--he's really a sweet cat, even though right now he hates me. But he'll be caged up, there's no way around it, because they can't have a boarder cat tittupping all over the office, getting in the faces of the clinic cats (and dog) and possibly charging the door.
