That was a fantastic way to get things rollin' this morning. At some level, I'm probably fortunate to be upright after losing my footing on the stairway this morning and getting intimately acquainted with the the next seven or eight steps. My left elbow has some serious rug-burn or something going on, and my left knee feels like I might have tried to bend it the wrong way... but I walked away from it without looking back. I didn't really have time to bother, actually... I don't get up a minute earlier than necessary to get to work on time, since I have to be here by around 5:40 or so.
I think I slept pretty hard. I don't necessarily feel well-rested, but it was the first night in three or four that Gabriel's general cold-oriented distress wasn't pulling me from slumber - at least marginally - several times through the night... often just because Roulette was jumping in and out of bed all night. It looks like Moonled kept him all night, so that would kinda make sense. Which is awesome... Roulette really needed the sleep.
Roulette posted an
LJ entry yesterday morning that touched on the weekend thus far and focused largely on the negative. I think her lack of sleep was at least partially responsible for this. I might lack perspective a bit, of course, since Saturday was the 2-year anniversary of my father's death, and I was determined not to think about it. A few high points that she didn't think to mention:
- I bought her a fabulous bouquet of Valentine's flowers through proflowers.com and had it delivered to her work. That was an interesting experience, since they were delivered by UPS. Weird.
- I helped her take pictures of the new doll... I think her overall reactions to the doll have tainted the experience somewhat, but the actual box-opening was really fun. Demi and Rajhassi hovered nearby the entire time while Roulette patiently posed Kaith and Murasaki for each shot.
- Saturday night... Apples to Apples. If you've ever played, then you're already giggling. If not... well, trust me... it's a riot. It was Allydhian, Jadefoxx, Roulette and the girls and I... and it Was. A. Blast.
- Sunday morning, Roulette and I played Halo 3. That's a big deal, because we never get to sit down and just play a game together like that... It wasn't for more than about an hour-and-a-half or so, but it was fun.
Last night: D&D. We actually got some real play time in, for the first time in weeks.
I could really use a nap.
