I have a lovely Labor Day weekend.
It didn't begin particularly well. I had to spend a couple hours at a miniature golf course on Saturday afternoon because the scheduled volunteer didn't show up, and neither of the co-managers (one of whom is my dad) was in town, so I had to go. I had been managing my allergies extremely well, but two hours outside set them off. I was miserable unil I finally agreed to take an allergy pill. Since then I've been okay.
Timothy showed up Saturday night. We made vegan coffecake and vegan snickerdoodles and vegan burgers (red bean burgers, and avocado as a cheese substitute), and we played Typing of the Dead, and we watched the Muse HAARP DVD, and we had a lovely time. This morning his girlfriend drove into town, and we all had fun. We went to lunch and played the "Most Interesting Thing I Didn't Do Today" game, which usually degenerates into a "Who can come up with the most surreal scenario" game but turned into a "Who can name the most obscure fact that would have changed history" face-off. Still, it was fun. Then we played the Game of Life, and I schooled everyone.
Hanging out with Timothy reminds me that I don't have to judge my self-worth by my productivity level, that it's okay to have fun. I was still productive, insofar as I learned three vegan recipes, but that wasn't on my to-do list. Also, Timothy always reminds me of things that I'm curious about, like ancient history and cryptozoology.
In somewhat related news, what does everyone think of the HBO mini-series Rome? I saw some clips on youtube, and it looks pretty cool.
