If I hadn't heard the early Orny Samplers, I would have only gotten David Bowie's "Fame". But lessee, there's "Sympathy for the Devil" -- the Laibach version, Negativeland's "U2", Warren Zevon's "Leave My Monkey Alone", and "Born to Love Volcanos" by the Dead Milkmen. Is all I recognize!

Wow... I'm surprised it picked so many sampler tracks, actually. Funny! It's a pity I stopped doing those, but music's kinda faded in and out of my life in recent years. But it's funny you remembered all those! Schwa!

I used to listen to the first couple Sampler tapes quite often (and always cringed during the massive swearing parts of "U2"). But yeah, it's the sort of music I'd never have picked up on my own, and is definitely memorable.
