Thoughts on the actual wedding
Sunday afternoon was lalartu and cussata's wedding. Much fun was had. The wedding was in Leesburg at the beautiful Lansdown on the Potomac Club. Ummm...help me with my geography here guys but does the Potomac actually run ANYWHERE near Leesburg? Guess it really doesn't matter, it was a cool site.
The food was wonderful. lalartu you need to post who the caterers were. Granted I don't have much need for caterers in that area but they were very good. Liquid refreshment and appi-teasers was set up by the time we finished the cake and there seemed to be a nice selection. There was plenty of room for everyone to sit and we managed to get a table right between the windows, which worked out well as some were eventually opened.
The wedding was something of a surprise, since I had heard cussata say something about having it outdoors when she was discussing it earlier in the day. Instead, they walked casually up to the buffet area and had the ceremony. Which was really cool.
cussata's dress was lovely with the jacket she wore during the ceremony, and even more so without it. The feeling of the dress was very art deco, which is a style that I love.
The bride and groom were very casual about the whole thing which made the wedding very fun. At one point I heard cussata ask someone when the buffet was going to be open and when she was told that the bride and groom go through the line first, they did so within ten minutes. There was no dancing and no DJ, both of which I usually hate at weddings, and when they had music, it was all stuff I enjoyed. We got to see friends we hadn't seen in a while, and there was much conversation.
Photos were taken out on the landing (the hall was on the 2nd floor and had a wonderful sitting area on the landing) and since there wasn't a "wedding party" they were made up of groups of family and friends. I can't wait to see the pictures that were taken.
All in all I'd say it was my second favorite wedding ever, with psyocavr and melabe winning by a very slim margin. It's really hard to beat a 3 hours wedding cruise.
