I completely understand why it would annoy some people. Some people are bigoted fucks. I was just hoping that maybe there was something more to the whole thing than just the "ick" factor or whatever it is that flips people out about gays.
I assume by Nobel prizes you mean marriage licenses. The difference is that people earn Nobel prizes, whereas marriage should be a RIGHT. And really, they already DO pretty much hand out marriages at every corner store. If people are so interested in preserving the sanctity of marriage, why don't they seem concerned over those little chapels in Las Vegas? You know, the kind that married Britney Spears and what's-his-face for 24 whole hours? Cause that sure as hell did wonders for the sanctity of marriage.
I dunno. It's one thing to be against homosexuality and it's quite another to pass laws that inflict your shitty worldview on others. I was hoping our system wasn't so screwed up that it would allow such blatantly prejudiced laws to pass, but I guess society really hasn't gotten over the whole "I'm better than you because I'm normal and you're not" business.
