So I'm pretty sure that I'm going to be doing
Camp NaNoWriMo in August, and I was wondering if any of y'all planned on doing it then, too. I missed the July session because my email sent the stupid notifications to my spam, which I never bother to check. I had a serious sadface before I realized that there were going to be two camp sessions, and that I could just participate in the second one.
It's kind of exciting, even though 50k in the summer will be a lot harder for me than in the late fall. I'm much more destracted in the summer: the weather makes me want to run outside and goof off, my younger family members have time to spend with me without having to worry about their school and sports schedules, and I throw myself into my Summer of Reading and local summer book challenge. In November the only thing I usually have to worry about is Thanksgiving. Oh well, I'm still gonna give it a go (I think).
Though I'll admit, it's kind of irritating that the new site still requires me to go to the main NaNo site in order to chat with other participants. It took me way too long to even figure that out, so for days I thought that Camp NaNo simply didn't have any way for people to hang/forums. I mean, sure, the new site is pretty and all, but is it too much to ask for a link to the forums?
I also wish I didn't have to see all of the July pep talks in my inbox just because I signed up to eventually participate for one of the two months. I can ignore them, sure, but it's still kinda irritating. I mean, yay that the site is up, but I still can't wait until it's a bit more polished for August and beyond.
Anywho, rant over with. So, anyone going for it this August? Want to chat about the planning process/writing hopes and fears/the blanket tent in your living room?
