Ok the last few weeks have been crazy..crazy!! I've been running around like a chicken with it's head cut off. Yes, the last few weeks of school, so in return that means: finishing on our numerous, final projects, turning in the big fat thesis, going to various interviews, getting ready for the real world...*gulp* It's hitting me like a ton of bricks, poor Rowan, he's been my punching bag of sorts with my mood swings...from crying, to laughing, being scared and excited, everyday is an adventure lol. But I'm happy to say that I landed my first fulltime job...i'm going to be getting a salary! =P The contracts are signed, and ohmigoodness it's related to my degree. It's a company called Avanti, so i'm very excited to be working there...right away they are very professional and nice, I felt a warm fuzzy when they called me to say how they were looking forward to me working there. It's been a long journey to get to where I am...an end of one chapter and on to a new one. I like the company cuz I can see myself moving up..., and the place looks nice too..which is an added bonus. Nothing sterile and conforming, it has an industrial loft look with a large open concept..just my kinda style. We'll see what happens!

So...now I have some free time and I'm going to write! A big hobby of mine has always been reading...all sorts of books starting from:

*edit* I had soo much fun finding books from the past, I forgot about so many and would love to just buy all of them and keep it for my kids =)

As a kid: Where the Wild Things Are, Amelia Bedilia, Anything by Robert Munsch (I have to go Pee!), Goodnight Moon, Shel Silverstein (Did you Where the Sidewalk Ends was banned??), Encyclopedia Brown (I loved solving those mysteries!), The Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Velveteen Rabbit, Miss Nelson is Missing, Tikki Tikki Tembo, Corduroy

Elementary School: Anything by Roahl Dahl, Especially Matilda, Beverly Cleary books which included Ramona, Dear Mr. Henshaw, Judy Blume (Superfudge!), From the Mixed Up Tales of Mrs. Basil E. Frankwieler, The Westing Game, How to Eat Fried Worms, A Wrinkle in Time by Madleine L'Engle, Little House on the Prarie Series, Cynthia Voigt series, Choose Your Own Adventure Series (remember those??), Paul Zindel (The Pigman), Alexander Key (The Forgotten Door), And of course...Sweet Valley Twins/High Series and The Babysitters Club

High School to Now: Jane Austen, Maya Angelou, Lois Duncan, Ken Follett, Michael Crichton, John Grisham, Sidney Sheldon (oohh I was addicted to his steamy books lol), Ray Bradbury, J.D Salinger, Douglas Adams (The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy),

Anyways, in High School I found my favorite book..ever. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. It had all the elements of a good story: romance, secrets, suspense, drama...it was also romantic in the way that it's about a very poor orphan girl who stands up for herself and becomes successful in her own right. I notice a lot of popular british authors love using that storyline such as Roald Dahl and J.K Rowling of the Harry Potter series. The british ppl must also love reading stories of orphans who get revenge on their mean caretakers while experiencing extraordinary events, and I do to. =P

*rave and rant*

Sometimes ppl need to chill with their extreme views. I mean ok, I have read and enjoyed books like The Da Vinci Code and Adventures of a Shopaholic..yes I know they are fiction and airy and blah blah...but so what if it's not War and Peace or some great autobiography by a renowned author from east Romania? And yes I have also read books by Tolstoy and Vonnegut and enjoyed them too...but I almost don't want to stay that cuz really who cares? I mean, when reading blogs, I have read many ppl who enjoyed reading the Da Vinci Code and a few others who have totally criticized them cuz "it is ficitious crap, no plotline, the sentences are poorly structured...the symbiotic references do not parallel the metaphorical content of the existential setting" Gaheez Napolean! Maybe so, but there is a reason why it's been on the bestsellers list for so long. Who takes these books that seriously anyways?? It's FICTION for heavens sake..and ppl enjoy it...let them! It's like those folks who ONLY listen to some obscure triphip space emo bands (ok i totally made that up again) and snub there noses cuz others listen to the Spice Girls or something...(lol I loved 2 Becomes 1!) Please don't hurt the poor fellow who just wants to read some trashy fiction instead of stuff from Alexsander von Strogonaff de Meur. It's all good if you like obscure rock bands and stuff, hey more power to you for expanding your knowledge, but don't judge so harshly on those Avril Lavigne listeners. Maybe they just wanna enjoy and chill out to some fun pop tunes! I'm writing this cuz I just read somebody's dissection on a popular book and how it's hurting society cuz ppl are actually reading it...*rolls eyes*.

*end rant*

AnySchways...

Interesting enough, many of the books I listed were frequently banned, I bet many of you have read a lot the books. Here is the link to the list: http://www.ala.org/ala/oif/bannedbooksweek/bbwlinks/100mostfrequently.htm An example is How to Eat Fried Worms was frequently banned b/c it promoted eating worms to kids...puhleaze!!! Please do suggest any books that you loved to read from before or are enjoying now...whether from the past or present it's always nice to see what other stuff ppl consumed. =)
