Hey, I had my first day of Orff level one today. It was awesome!!!! It really seems like this whole thing is going to be material that I can take back and use in the classroom, aka all practical application. What I am wondering the most right now is this: why don't they have this in colleges for regular undergrads? This seems like the kind of stuff I would have loved to know, like a year ago BEFORE I started teaching.
Anyway, this week we are doing basic Orff and recorder. Next week instead of recorder we are doing movement and dance. What kind of experiences have people had with the dance/movement stuff? Is it the kind of thing where you should wear sweatpants and a loose t-shirt or like workout clothes? I have no idea. The lady who teaches recorder is a nun and she is so incredibly cool. By the way, I am doing this right here in Milwaukee and it's only a 20-30 minute drive so I feel very lucky to have this opportunity :-)
