(no subject)
Due to weather and monetary concerns (well, mostly, the monetary concerns), we have canceled our Memorial Day trip to Wallowa Lake. I got a partial refund on the campground, so it wasn't a complete wash. But it's pretty sad that I did not have the dough to even pay for gas to and from our destination. So instead, I'll sit stay here, hopefully doing housework. Heaven knows that I've been needing to do the whole 'spring cleaning' thing. I'd just rather be out shooting scenic wonders. :-)
Still, we leave next Friday (after payday, thankfully) for a shorter trip to Central Oregon (and a trip to the John Day Painted Hills). We'll be gone for a couple of days on this trip- just enough to whet my appetite for the next big journey. I'm longing for warm sunny days and the smell of the sweet hay in the air. I know it's coming, but I can hardly wait.
I've finally connected my scanner to the desktop PC and installed the drivers/software. I promised a dear old friend last night that I would scan in a bunch of photos that I have hanging on my living room wall. There are so many, it'll take a while to get them taken down, removed from their frames, and scanned. But it's rewarding work. I hardly have any old photos of Sami up for friends and family to see. Most of the pics I've posted have been from the last two years or so. But my living room wall tells a story of a younger Sami. A Sami who smiles a lot and dances to Barney the purple dinosaur; A Sami who would fall asleep in curled up in my lap. I miss that Sami.
So tonight, I'll leave you with two photos- one of my high school sweetheart and I at my 'Senior Ball' (we've been friends for nearly 20 years, now) and more importantly, a photo of Sami and I, circa 1994. I'm proud of the young woman she's grown up to become, but I do miss my little girl in pig tails. Someday, she may have her own pig tailed girl. I hope she remembers to enjoy every minute of it. They all go by so quickly.
