-Two Months Later-

“Mommy!” Calico screeched, her hands curling into fists as she shot a glare at her baby sister, “Livi-uh, leggo of my hair!”

The baby cooed and let out a giggle, her tiny fist tightening around a handful of Calico’s curls.  She kicked her legs out in excitement which got another cry of frustration out of her big sister.

“Mommy!  Mommy!  She’s bein’ mean to me!” Calico grabbed onto Olivia’s hand and attempted to pry open her fingers, “Mommy!”

“What do you need, Callie?  I’m trying to find some food for supper.” Billie walked over to where the two of them were sprawled out on the floor and crouched down, “She’s got your hair again?  Olivia, sweetie, your sister doesn’t like it when you pull on her hair.”

Calico huffed in annoyance at the nice way her mommy was talking to the baby, “Mommy, she should have time-out.”

Billie laughed softly as he pried the tiny baby fingers from his daughter’s messy, dark hair, “Callie, Olivia is too little to be put on time-out.  She thinks that you’re just playing with her.”

“I am.  But she’s pullin’ my hair,” Calico slid out her bottom lip and shook her hair free the moment Olivia’s last finger left her curls, “That’s not playin’.”

“Little babies think that pulling hair is playing.  Maybe this means that we should go get a hair cut…” Billie grinned and laughed at the shriek of horror that left his daughter’s mouth, “C’mon, Callie, a hair cut won’t be that bad.”

“Nooo!  I don’ wanna cut it!” She wrinkled her nose in disgust and wound her fingers through Billie’s messy curls, “You cut yours!”

“Mommy’s hair is getting pretty long, hey?  Maybe we should both get hair cuts soon.”

“Livia too?” Callie put her hand on her baby sister’s head, making sure to be gentle as she stroked the baby’s soft hair, “No, hey?  She needs more hair.”

Billie laughed and kissed both of his daughter’s on their foreheads.  He smiled as he watched Calico tickle Olivia, only stepping in when she started to attempt to pick the infant off of the ground, “Calico!  We don’t pick Olivia up without my help.”

“Mommy, I’m a big girl.  I can hold Livia, okay?”

“Nu-uh, little lady,” Billie grinned and picked the baby off of the ground, walking into the living room and abandoning the thought of trying to find something to make for supper.  He sat down on the couch and watched as Calico climbed up next to him and placed her arms out to hold the baby, “Now you can hold her.”

“Yay!” Calico clapped her hands excitedly before calming down and patiently waiting for the baby to be placed in her arms.  She stared into her little sister’s eyes, blue like her daddy’s, “Why’re Livia’s eyes blue?”

“I don’t really know.  But she’s got blue eyes like your daddy’s eyes.”

The baby giggled and reached her hands out in the air, holding tightly to Billie’s finger the minute she closed her own tiny fingers around it.

Billie just watched his daughter cling to his finger, jumping as he felt a hand squeeze his shoulder, “Shit!  Mike, you scared me!”

Mike laughed and gave Billie a quick kiss, “We should put a bell on the door.  We never seem to hear each other come in.”

“You could just be louder…”

He grinned and nuzzled his face up against his boyfriend’s neck, planting a few quick kisses on the pale skin before looking over and grinning at his two girls, “Hey, Callie.  Were you good for your mommy today?”

Calico nodded before pouting and stating, “Livia’s too heavy.  Take her.”

Mike smiled and pulled the baby out of his daughter’s arms, watching as the three-year old slid off the couch and into the direction of her bedroom, “How was today?”

“Exhausting.  But what’s new about that?” Billie giggled and slid over to make room for Mike and Olivia to join him on the couch, “I mean, I worked around babies all the time but I forgot how much work it is to do it all alone.  And with Calico on top of that…”

“You seem to be doing just fine, my dear,” Mike watched as Billie bent over to rain kisses down on their daughter’s head, smirking at the way her hands instantly tangled in his hair, “She really likes pulling on your hair.”

“Callie’s too.  We almost had a meltdown due to this little one pulling on her big sister’s hair,” Billie popped his head up and scanned the room for any sign of his daughter, “Where did she go?  Did she--did she take off with the scissors that were on the coffee table?”

“There were scissors on the coffee table?  Why the hell would you leave scissors where she can--” Mike’s eyes widened and Billie jumped off the couch as they both realized said scissors were no where in sight, “Shit.”

The two of them hurried to the three-year olds bedroom, Billie gasping in horror before sweeping in and pulling the scissors out of his baby’s hands, “Calico Lavina, what did you do.”

“So Livia can’t pull it!”

Both Mike and Billie let out sighs of relief that their child hadn’t cut herself before turning those sighs into groans of horror and frustration at the small pile of hair sitting on the floor near the small play-mirror in her room.  Olivia let out a giggle and Calico shot up, dancing around and exclaiming happily that at least her sister thought her new hair was pretty.

“Mommy?” A voice, heavy with sleep, asked softly, “Are you still mad at me?”

“I’m not mad at you, baby girl, just a little upset.  You can’t cut your own hair.”

“Jus’ practicin’ so I can cut your hair,” she mumbled, resting her head against Billie’s shoulder as he carried her from the living room into her bedroom.

Billie nearly dropped her at her words and hurried to place her onto her bed, “You aren’t allowed to cut your hair or mommy’s hair, okay?  Actually, just don’t touch the scissors.  I mean it, baby girl.”

“Yes, mommy.  G’night.  Love you.”

“Love you too,” Billie said softly as he pressed a kiss to her forehead and backed out of her bedroom, running into Mike as he walked out of the baby’s bedroom, “Hey, I just found out that she was practicing to cut my hair.”

Mike’s arms looped around Billie’s thin waist as they both made their way down to their bedroom, “I don’t want her getting any older.  Can you imagine what she’ll be like as a teenager?  Your mom told me once that she kind of hopes Callie turns out just like you…”

Billie’s face went pale as a parade of images flew through his mind, “I hope that Olivia is more like you.  I mean, you’re kinda crazy but I’ll take crazy over little Miss. Bossy-as-Hell.”

“Me too,” he kissed his boyfriend on the lips, soft and slow, “Me too.”

“She’s actually been better than I thought.  She plays with her,” he paused to kiss Mike once again, “And she’s usually real nice and gentle.  And then she tries to pick her up or Olivia grabs her hair or I come in and she gets jealous when I go to the baby first.”

“She’s a normal three-year old adjusting to life with a baby.  She doesn’t like sharing you,” Mike grinned and gently pushed Billie into their bedroom, “I didn’t like sharing you with her when she was a baby.”

Billie Joe grinned and fell down on the bed, groaning at the feeling of his head hitting the soft pillows.  He closed his eyes and sighed happily at the feel of Mike’s weight joining his on the bed.  The two of them lay side by side for a few moments of silence.  They linked hands, fingers tangled together, as they turned their heads to stare at each other.

“I can’t believe it’s been a bit over six months already.”

“Me neither, Beej.”

Mike squeezed his boyfriend’s hand gently before releasing it, using his arm to instead curl around Billie’s waist.  He pressed three kisses to Billie’s hairline before pulling the other boy as close to him as physically possible.

“I’m still struggling with it,” Billie whispered against the skin of Mike’s neck , “With her and Callie and being a mommy again and just…everything.”

Mike squeezed Billie a bit tighter and exhaled loudly, “I know, sweetheart, I know.  But you’re doing so good.  With everything.  So good.”

“I still think about how things played out after Callie was born.  I don’t want things to go back to that but it’s just…it’s so hard.”

“I’m not going to let you go back down that path, okay?  Never going to let you do that again.”

Apparently I just love writing fluffy, cutesy stuff.
But does that every last in this story?  ;)
