What did your subconscious do today?
I've been dreaming lately. A lot. Very vividly.
One involved me as some Homeric fighter, like a Myrmidon of sorts. I wasn't the leader of our merry band of mercenaries, but rather a foot soldier, under the command of a very bitchy woman, who in turn answered to a Jason- or Achiiles-type figure. We'on a boat, in a storm, bound for some mysterious island, as demanded by the gods (natch). We enter the scene amidst some sort of dispute between my woman boss, who seems to think we're all doomed, with Jason, who vehemently insists that we should trust the gods and find this island. Maybe I should call him Aeneas from now. Anyway, Aeneas is right, and we land on a really oblong ship that seems to be mostly sand, with a huge, lonely mast (of all things) sticking up out of the ground. The battleplan seems to include my little unit's creating a diversion on one end of the oblong island while Aeneas climbs the mast.
We make it to our corner of the island, where we're engaged by this group of pig-warriors, who apparently want to kill us. The way you fight pig-people, you see, is by stabbing them in the shoulder and flinging them somewhere far away for you. Pretty simple. The fighting dies down and there's a single, young pig that's left, who is going to be eaten by the older, defeated pig-warriors. Weird. I take pity on my swine friend and try to save him, or something, but they try to eat him anyway, by frying him in hot grease. So I make Green kill it before it dies a horrible death. Then they pour the grease on me, but it's not very hot.
I woke up very perplexed.
The next night was another war-themed dream, this time in some aquatic marine unit who has mutinied. I don't remember it as well, I just know there are pistols invovled.
And the next night... something about a girl. With dark hair.
