M.Night Shyamalan didn't see THIS twist coming.

Ah summerish weather. The lovely sunny days coupled with a heat of wonderful. The problem of course is that every night becomes an exercise in will power to NOT walk around the streets, marvelling at the world's golden glow with several beers in hand. Which now that I think about it is pretty much like winter, although more confined to the house and marvelling at the heater's slightly odd coloured flame. Good times.

And with the increased sun, longer days and warmer weather, my seasonal bout of the "meh's" has also receeded. Gone are the wondering if I'm doing the right thing, what I should be doing, how I'm doing it, et al.; now replaced with the 3 month long - EVERYTHING IS AWESOME part of my brain operating at full steam ahead.

Speaking of awesome, I spent today at a symposium on neural plasticity. While that doesn't sound like most people's cup o' tea, hearing about the biological side of my field is a great joy. Networks and neuron kinds and function and form is all fantastically fundamental yet forgotten in a flurry, with only a small amount remaining that is actually of use to us cognitive neuroscientists. But that's our job. To discover how single neuron behaviours then combine into clusters into areas into connecting networks into thought, behaviour, action and the rest. But it appears that we're only really examining each part seperately and that's just not cool. Its like looking at a bolt and wondering how it makes a plane.

Speaking of planes...

AND in an interesting twist (to this whole "I love things due to the weather" kick I'm on), I fly off to Virginia to see Em in a little over a week, where it's coming into Winter. Cold temperature (its getting below 0 at nights now), overcast sky. Bleak, desolate and generally depressing. YET! I get to spend 9 days with my fiance who I haven't seen in about 3 months now. To boot, we've got a self contained serviced apartment rented which also includes basic and extra cable. Which means that I'll be watching an actual episode of Dexter on Showtime while eating a hamburger as big as my head with the gal I love. Weather be damned. :D
