Sunday smile with a cupcake.
Every day, the birds in the trees outside my apartment window raise a fantastic ruckus for about an hour, screeching and chirping like they'll never stop. And every day, at about 7:05, they all stop making noise at once, and every one of them takes off in a swarm of black into the sky. It's lovely.
Since school has started, I have jumped head-first into my acquisition of the Russian language, ordered expensive clothes off eBay for inexpensive prices, beautified my new apartment, and enjoyed the precious few times I've actually been able to do absolutely nothing. I've also sold my body for a medical study (testing lotions, don't panic!) so that, for the first time in a very long time, I don't have to work. It's a much needed break, because I'm too exhausted to juggle everything at this point.
Some things that have made me happy:
The new Jenny Lewis album.
The light switch in my kitchen has a small bundle of grapes painted around it.
I can see the most beautiful sunrises from my kitchen window.
I bought a shirt that says "Hug Me, I'm Russian."
I discovered the magnificent HBO show Carnivale, although it only ran for two seasons.
My mom sent me a package with a book, granola bars and cough drops, and wrote little notes on all of them.
I've been writing. But shhh, don't tell anyone.
I've been thinking about changing my future again. My theory is, if I don't do it at least once a year, I'll get boring.
