Out with bold, in with the you...

"This is the time of the year I usually reserve for depression. It's that growth spurt between years" - sounds like new years, huh? But here it is, June almost July, and I'm just realizing that things are going to be changing. The changes have already begun, actually. But in a much more subtle way than the changes that will be occurring over the next month or so. If I could create my own world with my own calendar, I'd base it around the school year. Maybe it's because I've spent the past 18 years of my life in school and am going to spend the rest of it in school, but I tend to see a "new year" as being that halfway mark between school ending and school starting again. Know what I mean? If not, I'll explain (I'm going to anyway)... It seems to me that around late June, the excitement of the summer begins to wear off and I realize that in about a month, I'll be having to get ready for school again. So, if I had my way, new years would be June 30th. That way you get a month or so (July/early August) to prepare for school. Then you have school and then about two months (May/June) to wind down before it all starts up again.

I think right now, especially when compared with summers past, it really is a time of change. I graduated with my Bachelor's degree in May and am now working on my Master's, although I'm only taking one class right now that doesn't even meet in class (internet thing). I think when Early College starts in late July and we get hands on experience with students, it'll start to kick in.

Clay and I moved in to our first place earlier this month and, despite some problems with getting things together, every thing is going well. But on to the problems. So, we got to Villamar to sign our lease and rent has been raised to $580 from $555... not much of an increase, but still more money that won't be in my pocket. Then we went to Charter to get internet and cable and the only package that meets all of our needs/wants is $110/month. Then to add on to all of that, our electricity bill for the first five days there (we moved in on the 8 and electric bills are sent out on the 13th) was over $25!!! That's crazy! And let's add to that a $300 pet deposit which I still haven't paid, $25/month on the rent for the dog, and so much more. One good point is Clay's mom did buy us a washer/dryer, but the fact that it will boost our electric bill even more worries me and won't allow me to be ecstatic about it.
