scary movies and memories

We just watched A Quiet Place which I actually enjoyed. It was about my level of scary, all about the tension and suspense but at a PG-13 kind of way. It felt like a missing chapter of the Cloverfield story, but maybe that was the the creature design. It was a TENSE 90 minutes.

I went to go rate it on Letterboxd and noticed that a new Halloween ( Read more... )

I haven't seen A Quiet Place! Yeah that's def my level kind of scary. I don't like torture horror movies at all. The House of Wax remake was pushing it for me on the torture front. I spent some time hiding behind a pillow lol.

Yeah American Horror Story is a different kind of scary. The first season left me with more questions than anything lol. The season (I think it was the latest one?) is the only one I've watched after the first season and I didn't finish it. I was too scared lmao! I haven't watched the other seasons because I was super butthurt after the season one finale lol.

I saw a scary movie short about mannequins that slowly move and turn a guy working at the store they're located in into one of them and that still has me scared to this day! If it was on TV or something I would avoid it like the plague. I'm too scared to ever watch it again lol.

I don't remember what the first scary movie I saw was. I remember seeing the Chucky movies, Silver Bullet, and Killer Clowns from Outerspace when I was a kid. It was mostly because my dad was watching them and he's always been the type to just come in the room and take over the TV. I think Silver Bullet was the only one my mom approved of lol. Oh yeah and one time we were visiting my dad's best friend and his wife was like, we have the perfect movie for the kids to watch! IT WAS STEPHEN KING'S IT LOL. That's def not a kid's movie. She literally put the movie on for her kids and me and my brother to watch lol. My younger brother was terrified.

Yeah, I am not one for gore. I like the more cerebral horror, I can scare myself on my own, thank you very much!!

that sounds like a Twilight Zone episode, I know there was one with mannequins. Or it might have been "inspired by" that episode LOL. Mannequins are creepy so it wouldn't take much to turn them into a horror story!

OMG the 80s IT was probably one of my earlier horror movies, but it was made-for-TV so it never got as bad as, say, the new movie. It was scary and disturbing...and then I read the book and that was WAY MORE scary and disturbing. And now I'm realizing I must have read that book when I was...11? Now THAT is disturbing LOL. I'm sure I read some Star Wars books afterwards to cleanse my pallet.

I can't deal with torture porn scary movies. NOPE. One of my friends was swearing by that movie Hostel and I was like, nope. NOPE. I refuse to watch it.

It's entirely possible that it was a Twilight Zone episode lmao. I was a kid and it was short so it was either an episode or a movie short and holy crap I'm still shook to this day. I'm easily scared by any scary stories involving dolls and mane quins to this day lol!

Right?! Man I think I was 9 when I saw the movie lmao. Looking back I'm like, why did my dad's bff's wife think that was a great CHILDREN'S movie?! OMG and you read the book when you were around 11?! Damn that must've been crazy lol! My younger brother read half the book when he was in high school and was like "I CAN'T FINISH" lol. He loves the mini series and the new movie now though.
