I spent the past week writing essays, updating my resume, and basically trying to make up for the past couple of years of not looking into actual careers by putting all of my eggs in one basket for the Teacher's Fellowship. I sent the application off on Monday night. Everyone seems to believe I will at LEAST receive a call back for an interview, which it is imperative that I now start working on my appearance. I need a major overhaul on my wardrobe, to change my hair, and to work on my piercing situation. Shouldn't be too difficult. Major thank you's to Danny, Megan, Stefanie & Bryan for helping me with my application. Stefanie and Bryan especially helped me re-write and word so many problems.
I picked up a couple extra shifts last week at OTB. I still hate that job passionately. Friday night I was asked to work, and despite needing the money, I had plans to go out with Lee. I felt that I would have been cheating myself by giving my free time to work for potentially $40. I ended up saying no, and we went to Panera, where I had a gift card. Half way through our meal he got an emergency call about a main break, and I had to drop him off at the water district. On my way back to Levittown, I was stopped at a traffic light, and someone two cars behind me decided they didn't have to stop at the same light, so long as they drove through the line of cars waiting at it with force. They rammed the car behind me into my brand new Element, that I've had for less than 2 months, and only made one payment on. IT GETS BETTER! While I'm on the phone having a nervous breakdown and trying to contact my mother, the car responsible for the accident takes off! The lady who was hit didn't bother to get any of her information... or even the plates numbers... she didn't even notice she had left the scene! I got the first three letters, which is useless... but if anyone sees a black mid-size 4 door car with front end damage and the first 3 letters of the plate are EGH, let me know! The lady was puerto rican.
I'm still pretty upset about the whole thing. It's only my bumper, but my insurance wants a $500 deductible for something probably not worth $500. It wasn't even my fault. I was braked at a light. In any event, both Stefanie and my mom met me at the scene, and then I went back to Stefanie's and drank until Lee picked me up at like 2am.
Saturday Lee got called into work again, for two more main breaks. I was kind of bummed that another day passed where I couldn't see him, but it's good money. When he got out of work he surprised me and took me to Kumo Sushi in Plainview, which was amazing. We had an AMAZING dinner and shared a bottle of wine.
Sunday we woke up and I did a photo shoot for Critical Condition from Boston. We shot on the water in Amityville, then in front of a hot dog truck, and then at Beerys. After we got home Tricarico picked us up in his new Jeep Liberty and took us to Matt & Lenny's apartment in Brooklyn to watch the Superbowl. We had a lot of fun, Lee made guacamole, Matt bought everyone atomic wings, and everyone else contributed snacks as well. It was me, Lee, Mike, Kristi, Erin, Matt, Lenny, Jay, Mary, Michelle M, Sean M, & Danny all in their little living room.
As for this week... I worked last night and busted my ass and barely made $100. Everyone was shocked, apparently you normally make between $20 and $50. Seriously... that's not okay. I need out fast. At least they gave me 3 shifts, and that's even despite my vacation Friday-Monday. I can't wait to be in Canada, drinking and taking pictures of ska bands. haha. There is some major snow coming down right now. I wish Lee was off to be home snowed in with me enjoying it. He might even have to sleep at the district tonight in case any emergencies arise. I'm taking advantage of the time apart by working on a valentines day gift for him :)
