1. Sherlock loves the way John's eyes light up after he's said something particularly clever, and voices his admiration without sarcasm or condescension. It's the only praise that has ever meant anything to him.

2. John's mind will never be as quick as Sherlock's, but he does his best to follow, asking questions when necessary, and is all and all rather patient when Sherlock knows he's being annoying. And he always listens, which means far more than John will ever know ( ... )

sorry it's taken me a while to comment, haven't been on LJ that much. I think this fits the BBC verse very well. It suits their quirky relationship. :)

I just recently rewatched the whole series, and the way you wrote this just ...nails my entire adoration for this series, and the relationship those two share. I always thought that, to Sherlock, John is everything -- because he's loyal, because he believes, because he's one of the few people to *accept* Sherlock for what he is.

I love how you summed up all this in so few words. Love <3
