5 things Sherlock loves about John, and one thing he doesn'tfire_rose17April 9 2012, 22:41:12 UTC
1. Sherlock loves the way John's eyes light up after he's said something particularly clever, and voices his admiration without sarcasm or condescension. It's the only praise that has ever meant anything to him.
2. John's mind will never be as quick as Sherlock's, but he does his best to follow, asking questions when necessary, and is all and all rather patient when Sherlock knows he's being annoying. And he always listens, which means far more than John will ever know.
3. It's annoying, the way John nags him to sleep, to eat, to take care of himself, all of which Sherlock would rather not bother with while on a case, but at the same time, it's comforting to know that someone cares.
4. The benefit of having a roommate was that, when he was between cases and bored out of his mind, there was always John to study and analyze. And Sherlock loves the fact that this simple man just may be the most delightful mystery he's ever come across.
5. Sherlock truly appreciates that John never stopped believing in him, even when everything was stacked against him, even when Sherlock himself was trying to tear down his faith. And even staring at a gravestone, tears in his eyes, John still fully believes that Sherlock will return to him, and Sherlock honestly can't say that he is wrong.
And the thing Sherlock hated about John was that, despite the years he spent distancing himself from the world, looking at everything rationally and from a distance, John is the only one who can make him feel.

sorry it's taken me a while to comment, haven't been on LJ that much. I think this fits the BBC verse very well. It suits their quirky relationship. :)

Oh dear <333
I just recently rewatched the whole series, and the way you wrote this just ...nails my entire adoration for this series, and the relationship those two share. I always thought that, to Sherlock, John is everything -- because he's loyal, because he believes, because he's one of the few people to *accept* Sherlock for what he is.
I love how you summed up all this in so few words. Love <3
