So. Partners in Crime.

I've got to get it out, so, under the cut, major spoilers for Doctor Who Season Four, and some nuttiness. Also, there are macros.

Don't click this cut unless you wanna be SPOILED, big-time, and you wish to read my nonsensical ramblings. )

And I couldn't help but compare Donna's back-talk, hanging from the lift cage ("Hang on !" "I AM.") to some of Rose's sassier moments in danger. Rose was always quick to comment on the Doctor's habit of leaving you hanging until the last minute- see The End of the World, Tooth and Claw, etc. I think the best thing for the Doctor at this point is a companion who doesn't follow him blindly, but calls him on his shit and has a down-to-earth, totally ordinary viewpoint and manner. Somebody who doesn't see him as a "romantic lost prince," in his own words. Somebody who will argue with him, challenge him. Quoted for truth+truth^2. Donna is pretty much exactly what the Doctor (and the show) needs ( ... )

Yes ! I think Donna's going to be a hoot; but like I said, I think she's also going to be a greatly-needed shot of reality and balance. Lucky us !

And I'm again hoping "The Stowaway" has some sort of greater significance.

Oh, I am SO hoping. All the other specials' songs suggested a deeper meaning, and referred directly to the Doctor and Rose. So, the odds are in our favor at least. ;)

"my BFF suspects that Rose knows something the Doctor doesn't, about what's going to happen on Earth. "
Maybe something about bees and Addipose planet dissapearing?
I think so too. Then, she wants to see him for other more personnal reasons (*kissing*hugging*more kissing*lol).

Yes ! It's likely something big could be happening on earth, so it's possible that Rose may have found out about it, or maybe it's affecting Pete's world too. Just speculation at this point, nothing real, but it'd be one explanation.

And of course Rose would try to find the Doctor to help her save the day ! (And get in some snuggling, of course, ha.)

"Do remember that this man is essentially homeless and never changes his clothes," I want to remind them.

I think this is something we all need to keep in mind. Because it is hilarious and OH SO TRUE.

I don't care if it is a time machine, he's been wearing the same pants for years at this point. Smexy, yes; but if they'd give me a brief shot of a washing machine or something, just once, I'd feel loads better.

Hee.

Actually, I think that's best for the viewers as well. While I enjoyed Voyage of the Damned for the ridiculousness and the danger and the fun characters and of course the UNENDING HOT; something about the over-the-top hero worship, the lonely god taken to the extreme, didn't sit right with me. The Doctor has never struck me as the kind of action hero to walk through a hall of flames in slow motion- he's just not that guy. He's the nerdy guy in trainers and a suit, he's the awkward outsider who's too rude, he's the nutter stringing together Christmas lights and scouring pads and kettles to save the world. He's the hero who doesn't stick around for the parade. And if the companion becomes a kind of mini-parade that follows him around singing his praises, I start to look askance at the writing team. "Do remember that this man is essentially homeless and never changes his clothes," I want to remind them.A-freakin'-men. VOTD just seems like a whole different show to me, like the script was written for some action flick and the writers were ( ... )

That's it exactly ! There were moments that fit, but it was so... grim and unusual. I didn't need to see the Doctor hit rock-bottom, again, after LotTL.

Totally make that macro- go forth and macro ! Yes ! I love that Donna packed ahead- my BFF and I turned to each other and were like, "that's us." We would so pack a bag.

In conclusion: SUCK IT, ROSEHATERS. ;)

HA! You should send RTD a postcard with that on the back. I actually was trying to watch VotD this morning and the entire time I was... I don't know, I think 'annoyed' is too strong of a word, but I was definitely noticing the problem you're describing and I ended up not watching all of it. So, in short: YAY DONNA!

Speaking of the writing, one thing has stuck with me: the moment where Donna asks him about Martha and Rose. Specifically, how he refers to Rose's current state- still lost, he says. Still lost. I don't know how much I ought to be reading into that, but the choice of the word "lost" intrigues me. Because lost, in my mind, implies a certain degree of hope for recovery. Because lost things never really leave you- they haunt you, tease you, confound you. Because lost things can be found.

Ooh, that goes perfectly with the way I interpreted it: the fact that she's "still lost" means that he's still looking. Yes?

o see ( ... )

I suspect that postcard has been a long time coming. ;) VotD was just... itchy. It made my brain itchy. It was trying to fit square pegs into round holes.

...the fact that she's "still lost" means that he's still looking. Yes?

OMGYESPLEASE. At least, I interpreted it as "he's not completely over it," which is good, because obviously neither am I. ;) I'd like to think that "lost" implies hope and an undercurrent of a wish to see her again.

Some people think her face was like that because she saw Donna and the Doctor together and she's sad he replaced her.

I respectfully submit that that is crazy talk ! Where are these people ? I should think of my blood pressure and refrain from debating. If those people would watch School Reunion, they'd notice that moping off about something like that simply isn't Rose's style. She's a confronter- she's honest and emotionally open. If she saw the Doctor and Donna together, she'd probably rush right up. Also, in Doomsday, this line: "All alone ?" With tears in her eyes. I hardly think that ( ... )
