Glee 2x04 "Duets"

There are so many things that I love and hate about the Brittana storyline right now. Thoughts behind the cut, plus lots and lots of spoilers because that's all I do.

Before we get into the Brittana... Hi, Sam, I really wish you were going to be Kurt's boyfriend and not Quinn's. I felt some awesome chemisty between Kurt/Sam... but I think I've also gotta admit that blondie and Quinn have some pretty good sparkage too (but I think that's because I'm blinded by Dianna Agron's hotness). That's besides the point (because I also think Quinn has a lady!boner for Rachel even though I don't really ship Faberry).

Uhh... where was Sue Sylvester? It's just not the same without her. I like Beiste too.

Generally, Rachel/Finn bores me completely and utterly. I like them. Separately. Somewhat. I like Rachel more. Finn... well... I'm back and forth on this fellow. There's something absurd about them.

Okay. So.

THERE WAS SO MUCH BRITTANA. I didn't cap it all. I had to skip some scenes for the sake of time and sanity (do you know how heartwrenching it is to gif sad!Brittany?!), but I got a good chunk of fun ones. I could write pages about what I thought about this episode, but I won't. Anyway.

We finally got a "kiss" (went on longer than I expected the show to let it, but all fairly chaste necking nonetheless) and I don't know how to feel about it. On one hand, YAY we've finally got more than hints that these two ladies are gaying it up with each other (thanks for letting us know the delicious horrid details Santana). On the flip, the kiss was still really mediocre compared to what the straight couples get. Bleh. Let's talk of other things.

Is it me, or is the Brittana fandom pretty spot on (in general) about the characters? I mean, we have Santana being the one with denial issues and Brittany not caring because Santana is her everything. Wait, I may still be reading into it too much, but I really got these vibes from the episode. Despite predicting this and seeing it in countless fics, it's really nice to see it playing out on screen. Not that I think it's going to live up to everyone's expectations, but the fandom is getting some pretty good fuel for the ship. Brittana aren't really subtext anymore for me... definitely maintext. By the end of the episode, I was screaming at the TV, "Damnit, Santana! You broke Brittany! FIX IT!" And that was nice because I wasn't angry or screaming at the show itself for being utter fail (only some fail, this time).

Tangent: I had a conversation about bad television "high school drama" versus good "character drama." Rachel/Finn shananigans? High school drama. What is going on through their heads? WHY ARE THEY DOING THESE CRAZY THINGS ALL THE TIME. This goes for other characters as well, but everyone other than the "It" couple tends to go through much more character driven growth. It's emotional and gripping and I don't think we've been getting nearly enough of the good drama so far this season.

Anyway.

Gifs coming soon. I'm a snot nosed liar, but those gifs will be here eventually.
