With my back aching to various degrees for months, I made a somewhat impulse purchase of a 4-inch memory foam pad that was listed in a techbargains.com entry.

Last week I caved in to getting tv-functionality. I got a dvd-burner with built-in ASTC HDTV tuner. I can get the cable channels I'm paying -$0.05 a month for, and the over the air channels that work on this side of the building. the PBS in HDTV is great, but I barely watch it. I use the s-video port on my 20-inch LCD montinor, and the digital audio port on my Cambridge Soundwords computer audio sub, and the setup works great, I hit a button on my computer screen to switch to TV, the dig audio line overrides the analog line from the computer.
There are 2 good dvd-recorder on the market, afaik, and the Samsung was out of stock everywhere, so I got the LG model in Best Buy - ordered online for in-store pick-up - process worked smoothly. $200 or so.
