Field Notes: San Antonio ...

Feb 29, 2008 22:27

I arrived safely at midnight in San Antonio on Friday morning.

Then, I hit the ground running later this morning with phone-banking. Seriously, for all the hangups, rudeness and cussing out that I received in Reno, San Antonio has more than made up for it all in one day. It's true what they say about Southern hospitality. Even one, very Catholic woman and I had a nice, cerebral and spiritual discussion about abortion. And we didn't even raise our voices!

And then, the man himself -- Barack Obama -- came to town for a Stand for Change rally. I think the early estimates are anywhere from 7-10,000 people attended the event. Not only did the supporters love my crowd control, they loved my ensemble and my Rosie the Riveter pin ... "We Can Do It!"

And now, a long night of data entry.
Suh-weet.
