...in which I am referring to Japanese TV shows and not emo angst, at least for the time being.
For whatever reason I've been catching a lot of J-DRAMA recently and I'm finally finding myself watching the famous Densha Otoko which I suppose I should like more but I find myself thinking that this show might be a bit over-hyped. I love the premise of an otaku saving a beautiful woman and then having a relationship bloom out of it but I'm only a couple episodes in and already the show is dragging. It's cute, I like it, but I find myself skipping forward a lot. We'll see if I actually keep with the show or move on.
However, I'm a bit amused to see the infamous Hanazawa Rui of Hana Yori Dango (ie Oguri Shun) playing a silent otaku on the message boards and sending huge emoticons of encouragement but saying nothing otherwise. It is a bit strange to see him trying to be portrayed as an online otaku because if anything Oguri Shun is far too much of a pretty boy to pull it off. Ah well. Eye candy, I suppose.
In other more English-speaking news, I read off Neil Gaiman's blog that Paramount will be releasing the Stardust movie on my birthday! Somehow if this does come to pass I want to take a group of people to go see this movie on my birthday at the closest theater playing!!
