I lost my iPod Nano.
I was transferring trains at one of the busiest stations in D.C. and was so proud of myself that I ran and barely made it in time to catch my second train home. I curled back on a seat, brought my Kindle out, and continued to read. It wasn't until I was exiting the train at my stop that I realized that I couldn't hear music anymore and my headphones weren't actually connected to anything. A quick search in the train before the doors closed revealed that there was no Nano around. It must of slipped out of my pocket when running to the train.
I must admit that I am rather upset about this and huffed my way home, especially because I honestly don't have the money to buy another once since this and next paycheck need to cover rent and my rather large tax bill. But I use my mp3 player just about every single day so I really do want it enough that I'm going to the Apple store tomorrow after work tomorrow to drop $150 on another one. What makes it worse is that the old Nano wasn't yet 6 months in my possession. I guess I should be happy the price went down a little? Last time I paid $188 with tax.
I'm trying not to be really down about this as it is just a piece of technology but I've wrapped it in my life so much that I don't want to go a long time without it. After calling my brother up to moan a bit and listening to his much larger financial problems it kind of put things into perspective.
I took a bubble bath, proceeded to finish my book, and realize that I am damn lucky that I can manage to go out the very next day to buy a new one even with the idea of taxes looming. It is not something that I want to do at all but I can still manage if I am very, very careful with how I spend my money this next month. So that's what I am going to have to do so I can have my music back.
