Spring is here. Should I visit Montreal?
There is so much that I want to do and see and experience here in DC while the weather is nice and yet I find myself with little to no motivation, a constant problem of mine. I still haven't joined a yoga studio. And even though I want to spend time outdoors at some park nearby with a big shady tree curled up with a book, I haven't done that either. I'm not sure where a nearby park is and even if I found one I need to find the energy to go out and actually spend time outside.
In actual news, I'm also waiting until Monday night to see if my friend K., a Canadian whom I knew in Japan can finagle a half-day off from work so she can spend the weekend with me in Montreal for the Kinetik Music Festival, full of industrial and synthpop goodness. I am sort of waffling on if I really want to go - I mean I do want to go but I'm just not sure if I should spend a goodly majority of what little money I have for this. Is it worth it? In some ways it is because I get to see K. and Rick who is generously letting us crash at his pad for that weekend and see some of my favorite bands - VNV, Covenant, Bruderschaft, Assemblage 23 - but I am wondering if the trip and plane fare might be more than I want to spend right now for such a thing. It'll cost me in the upwards of $400 for the weekend if not more. I think I've already decided that if K. can't get the half-day off on Friday and thus won't be able to catch a train in for the weekend then I won't go. It's not much fun going concerting alone. But if she can manage to get time off from work then I'll buy my plane ticket Monday night and eff it, you only live once, ya' know?
So we will see if tomorrow will bring me a trip to Canada in May for ootz-oontz gothy club weekend festival extravaganza or not.
(With that said, if I don't end up going to this event in Montreal then I will definitely take a mini trip to Toronto to see K. and my other friend from Japan, Paul, with a cheap bus ticket up sometime in late summer - maybe as a birthday gift to myself.)
