Welcome to 2010!!
Happy New Year!!!
Not quite what I expected today to turn into but still a rather nice end of the year.
Spent the morning at the Werribee Open Range Zoo and got to see emu, kangaroos, buffalo, antelope, camels, meerkats, and zeebra. Lunch in Williamstown for burgers and iced chocolate and then a trip to the Scienceworks Museum nearby where students get in free (yaay). While definitely a very kiddie museum I definitely had fun trying to pilot one of the mini airships (not easy). Afterward a mini-stop back to my place for a quick rinse-off shower (bloody hot today!! We just missed hitting the 3-digit temperatures) and off to see Sherlock Holmes. Dinner at a fun but busy Chinese restaurant in downtown (CBD) Melbourne and a somewhat-random downpour of rain while waiting for the midnight fireworks to shoot off of buildings. I ended up at Melbourne's Federation Square near Flinders Station (a very recognizable area of Melbourne) getting absolutely drenched, watching my straightened hair curl and become nightmarish, seeing my shirt and skirt get soaked, and breaking off the toe part of one of my flip-flops so suddenly I am shoe-less for the evening while watching fireworks shot up into the lightning-filled sky from all directions off of tall skyscrapers.
All in all I say it was a rather good day, even with the walk home barefoot.
I now have a kitty purring loudly in my lap and thoughts of my mini-trip down the Great Ocean Road tomorrow. Wheeee. I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe New Years. See ya' on the flip side!
