I'm a newbie yogi!

So, yesterday I made a really good decision:  I went to my first yoga class.

The studio is called tranquil space, and its 3 stops away from me on the metro, at Dupont Circle.  The studio itself is hippie fabulous with lots of lavandar and green (including lavander flowers on the floor to mark where to put mats during a crowded class.) Some of the hippiness, admittedly was a bit overwhelming.   But man, it was awesome.

Its vinyasa hatha yoga, for those of you that that means anything to.  And I was sweating big time halfway through and it got a bit rough especially when I had no idea what poses the teacher was talking about.  But at the very end we had this relaxing pose lying on our backs and they gave us eyepillows and sprayed this lavander aroma therapy and it was so relaxing.  I also noticed that by the end of the class the curve in my spine (I always have a gap between my back and a flat surface when I lie down on a flat surface) had straightened and the gap was gone.  I could focus so much better and I felt in better control of my body.  It was truly awesome.

So, I signed up for a newbie workshop that meets every sunday for an hour and a half for the next four weeks.  This way I can learn the poses and the correct names and not feel so confusled in my next class.  I'm really excited about it.  I think this will really reduce my stress level through law school.  Which would be a good thing especially because I'm getting stress-related random pain like I did in high school.   Not fun.  If it doesn't go away in a week or two, I'm going to the health center.  I'm going to see if yoga helps a bit first.

That was the highlight of my weekend.  Today I've been working on my 2nd legal writing assignment. I got my 1st one back on Friday and I passed!  (all but one of the Legal writing assignments are P/F) I also had many positive comments, which made me very happy.  I think this one is going well so far too.

My plans for the rest of the weekend include yoga class tomorrow morning from 10-11:30. I'm going to get there a little early and invest in a mat.  Matt's going to meet me at the studio (he might be interested in yoga too!) and we're going to go to lunch somewhere around Dupont circle.  Then at 5 Matt and I have Tulane flag football practice.  I really suck.  I jammed my finger last time in the first 5 minutes. Hopefully this practice will go better.  Other than that I stil have to finish the writing project, brief cases for contracts, and at least start reading an article for torts.  Isn't the life of a law student fun and glamourous?

Till next time...much love.
